Our first sighting of common dolphins for the year.  There approx 500 dolphins moving around the bay on Saturday and Monday.  How amazing, they move so beautifully together and are so lively!

This is a photo of one of  two whales that we encountered today.  At first we were travelling beside them then they disappeared!  Next thing you know they have surfaced right beside the boat and were circling us.  They gave us such a fright when they surfaced less than 5 meters from the boat!

Today we had an encounter with a giant of another kind.  This elephant seal made a stop at the local seal colony  on his journey.  Not yet fully grown, this seal is gigantic compared to the cape fur seals that are found at the seal colony of Plett.

Magic Moment of the Week: Close Encounter of the Fat Kind

This southern right whale gave us the close encounter of a life time.  After locating the animal, the skipper stopped the boat because the whale disappeared, then the next thing you know it surfaced right in front of the boat.  It played around the boat for a few minutes then moved away.
