Conservation Manager – ORCA Foundation (Plettenberg Bay)
Start Date: May 2025 | Full-Time Position
The ORCA Foundation, the marine research and conservation division of Ocean Blue Adventures based in Plettenberg Bay, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Conservation Manager to join our team starting in May 2025.
This full-time role (Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00) involves assisting with the daily operations of our international volunteer programme, supporting marine biologists and conservationists, and overseeing fieldwork activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with ongoing marine and coastal field research projects
- Supervise and support volunteers during field activities
- Conduct volunteer orientation and training
- Respond to marine animal strandings
- Perform data capture, error checking, preliminary analysis, and report writing
- Facilitate environmental education and outreach
- Attend and contribute to local environmental management meetings
Candidate Requirements:
We’re looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual who:
- Is passionate about marine conservation and education
- Enjoys working with youth and international volunteers
- Is comfortable working long hours outdoors in sometimes challenging conditions
- Is physically fit and capable of strenuous hikes and fieldwork
- Is not prone to seasickness and is comfortable with heights
