Green is the new black – saving water

This week consider your “water footprint” and how much water you use on a daily basis. Take these tips to heart, and consider how little effort they will require to make a large contribution to the health of your planet;

  • Place a brick or plastic bottled filled with sand into your toilet cistern. The brick displaces water, thus less water is used every time you flush.
  • Switch the tap off when you brush your teeth!
  • Shower with a bucket in the shower, and use the water to water your grass. Using grey water (household waste water that can be re-used) can save up to 500L of water per day. Before using grey water in your garden, make sure that you research its benefits and downfalls. For example, grey water should not be used on vegetables or plants that will be consumed.
  • Pat yourself on the back for making a realistic effort to “go green”!
